Ah, it is nice to have Christmas (almost) over with. I don’t hate Christmas, I just don’t agree with all the commercialism and money spent wastefully. I refuse to do that anymore. I still give gifts but more personalized ones.
So today is my dear Father-in-law’s birthday. I got away with not having to prepare a turkey dinner on Christmas day, so today it is our turn to host dinner, not for Christmas but a birthday. Usually of course, people who have a birthday on Christmas or within a day or two of it, have Christmas decorations all around them instead of birthday decor. This time, dear old dad is going to have some birthday decorations. As much as I hate to go out shopping on a busy day, I am going to go and get some birthday balloons and a bit of birthday décor so he can have a real birthday dinner, not mixed with Christmas. You have to understand here, we do not have a stitch of Christmas decorations up in our house, except for a few Christmas cards on the mantle.
It is hard for me to muster up the energy to entertain, but since my husband is doing a lot of the cleaning and all of the cooking I think I must make a great effort to being in a good mood. I am even going to set up a photo booth with happy birthday props. Dad-in-law doesn’t know that yet, neither do any of our other guests.
I am going to fore warn everyone that I am not participating in New Year’s Day Dinner. It is time for me to start eating healthy again as I have put on quite a bit of weight over the last few years. It is not really a New Year’s Resolution, so much as it is a plan. No point in starting to eat healthy at Christmas time when you are addicted to junk food.
Looking forward to 2018 being a better year, I have the same wish for you.
I’m Frazzled Again.
