How many calories do we need to eat to lose weight in a reasonable amount of time?

How many calories do we need to eat to maintain that weight?

Here is a perfect website for you to check out that will give you all of that information.  You type in what you currently weigh, how much you want to lose, you type in whether you are very active, regular, or light activity and this program will tell you how many calories you should eat to manage everything.  It is a simple calculation, once you know it, then we move on to the next step.   For me I am 150 lbs.  I want to  lose 2 lbs a week which is a realistic goal.  I am very inactive so I should eat less calories.  The amount of calories I need to eat is between 1180 – 1200 calories a day to lose weight.  Once I get to my goal I can increase the calories to between 1300 – 1500 depending on my activity level.  Check out your ideals here…

One thing to remember is, what those calories are made up of is more important than the number of calories.  Once you go to this website to figure out the amount of calories you need to eat to lose weight, then how much to maintain your weight, come back to my next post titled “Free Calorie Counter and healthy eating choices” post where I will list some suggestions of healthy choices and combinations to lose weight.  This is not a quick weight loss program.  It is a realistic, life long way of eating healthy.  It’s called weight management.

  1. hey there, I know it’s a bit late, but seeing the latest post -congrats btw- about your 1st week of success made me want to go back, I’d like to salute both your efforts and methodology, anyway I have a few tips that might help you a bit ;

    1) — you can try using this site for a more accurate caloric estimation and don’t forget to count your daily activities other than your exercise in the calculator

    2) you can either use “my fitness pal” app/website or supertracker website “” to count your daily nutrients and caloric intake, as you have said what those calories are made up of is more important than the number of calories.

    3) try to eat less processed foods as they tend to have unnecessary calories, don’t forget to add nuts (walnuts, peanuts, almonds. etc…) to your diet with moderation, whole grains for fiber

    4) drinking milk with tea is ok, you don’t have to worry about it unless you are taking iron tablets (as a treatment for anemia) it’s a newly busted myth.

    5) one perfect snack is cucumber as 1 kilogram equals 150 calories just like the scotch mints lol but way more filling for the stomach, lettuce(1kg=150cal) and tomato(1 kg =250 cal) are perfect too

    1. That’s cool, thanks for the info. I just got some almonds this evening, I always have cucumbers on hand. I was anemic as recent as a couple of months ago. I’m just borderline now and still take iron supplements. I use skim milk in my tea but I take almost 1/3 cup of milk in my tea. That is about 30 calories 5 to 6 times a day. I’ve done lots of research but there is always still more to learn. Thank you.

      1. You are welcome, and as long as you drink the (tea/coffee) after the tablets at least two hours apart it should be ok and adding lentils or other iron rich foods will help keep your hemoglobin numbers up,

  2. I cant seem to click to your page from your name. What is your site address. I wanted to check out your page. It is easy to follow, but you have to want to do it and stay away from sugar and carbs. I have written trhee posts after this already.
