A Winsome Smile Will Melt Your Heart

via Daily Prompt: Winsome

Have you ever seen a child smile and not smile right back?  Can you imagine a world without smiles of a child?  The last time I went home for a visit, I had so many new nieces and nephews to meet.  They all had such winsome smiles!  It couldn’t help but put me in a happy place.

There is always lots of stress and anxiety any time I go home for a visit.  I have such a big family and someone is always fighting.  If it wasn’t for all the new babies I don’t think I would have made the trip.

I rented a vehicle for a week so I could go to everyone’s home to see what a wonderful job they’ve made of their lives.  Each family put in so much effort to make their home perfect.  The children are always the center of everyone’s attention.  Don’t you just love to see the joyful look on their faces when you tell them how lovely their bedroom is, how beautiful the drawing they made of their mother is?

Nothing can compare to the smile of a happy child.  My world as a child was not happy.  I never smiled, I am so thankful I can smile now.  If we could see the world through the eyes of a child, wouldn’t it be wonderful?  There would be no racism.  There would be no hate.  Freedom.

I don’t like to imagine the world a child has to live in, where there is war everyday.  Gun battles on the streets.  There is no joy there, no winsome smiles.  I don’t have to imagine it, it is there.  Always.  On the news, on social media.  We can’t avoid seeing it as painful as it is.  Leader’s of countries could certainly make it better, but it just keeps getting worse.  I want to think about peace.  Children playing freely.  No fear.  Children eager to learn.

A world filled with winsome smiles, that is what we need, if only for a day.  Smile today if you can.
