Tending to Business, sort of

via Daily Prompt: Tend

Good morning folks!  I am feeling much better today.  The sun is shining and it is not too cold.  It’s always a good day when I can tend to a bit of business.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am such a procrastinator.  My intention while being off work was to get the paper work done for my taxes and clean up my house.  So far, I have not been too successful.

Today, I have managed to dig up the energy to call the mortgage company to check out rates for my upcoming renewal.  The rates are increasing now and we had such a good rate before.  It was at 2.9%  Our mortgage is still fairly high so it will make a big difference to the payments if they increase further.  So I have two months left and they will let me renew early without penalty.  I could have taken a 4 year that would have been .7% higher than what we are paying now.  I decided to take a 3 year at only .2% higher which won’t make much of a difference in the payment.

I hope in three years time, my husband will be ready to let go of this big, two-level home.  Three years down the road, our mortgage will be much smaller if we can manage to double our payments.  Then we can sell, get something smaller and be mortgage free.  We are getting close to retirement, although neither one of us will totally retire.  I don’t have any idea what direction I am going to go.  We won’t be able to double payments until I get back to work.  Then we’ll just have to wait and see.

Now, if I could only get my butt in gear to get the taxes done, that would be great!

One thing down, a million to go.

I’m Frazzled Again.

  1. Our mortgage is up for renewal this summer. This will be the first time in 15 years that my wife and I will try not to add on to our mortgage to pay down debt. We want all the things- but need to be a bit more practical. Doubling mortgage payments seems so far away, but one day I hope to be there.

    1. We’ve remortgaged a few times, this time we are not doing that, just renewing and trying to double the payments. We still have quite a large. Ortgage when most people my age are mortgage free. Not me, not us. We will never be able to retire. That’s okay, we are both work a holics
